Hebrews 11:1-3: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
What an encouraging scripture to remind us of our mighty Savior that has the power to do all things, and to bring our hope to life! Faith is the first ingredient we need to have a relationship with the Lord, as the scripture lets us know in Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
It may be small, but the lovely little five letter word of “faith” is one of great significance. Jesus talked about only needing faith the size of a mustard seed in order to see great things come to pass. The depths and understanding of this fascinating thing called faith expands beyond a tiny little thought that is planted into our thinking. It may start small, but the more we “water” it, the greater it becomes in our walk, our thoughts and our actions. Nothing is impossible when we let our faith grow!
What are some other things “faith” means to different people?
It means trusting fully in God. Trusting that whether good or bad, He is with us.
It means trusting that He will order our steps when we are walking with Him and praying for His will.
It means trusting that no matter what we go through, it is according to His will and He will make us better because of it.
It means that even if you can’t see something with your earthly eyes, you know it will happen. It is a lack of proof or evidence, although you can depend on it coming to pass.
Faith equals God. Believing in something you can’t see or touch, but know exists.
It means seeing Him in everything-trees, creatures, people. He created everything and the reminders of Him are all around us. Even the seasons speak of Him.
It means He will bring me through every situation, and there is no need for worry.
It is complete confidence in someone or something.
While the description and definition of this precious word may differ slightly from person to person, all of us can agree what a priceless treasure it is to have in our own possession!
